Once the 2011 Holiday Season is over, it's time to get back into a regular training routine and start preparing for the 2012 race season. Element bike workouts will be appropriately periodized to help you build your aerobic base, speed, strength and technique in order to be ready to race. The workouts will gradually build in duration from 60 to 90 minutes. Be prepared to put in some quality efforts from the outset, though.
Drop in fee is only $12 and, for that, you will get a quality workout with a dozen or so of your soon-to-be best friends. The Tuesday night workouts are "BYOB+" - Bring Your Own Bike plus trainer, towel (to absorb all the sweat you'll be laying down) and you're be ready to go. The workouts will be 60 to 75 minutes for January through to March.
Here is the Winter 2012 Schedule for the Tuesday night rides:
Tuesday Night Workouts: January 3, 10, 17, 24 & 31 (5 sessions)
February 7, 14, 21 & 28 (4 sessions)
March 6, 13, 20 & 27 (4 sessions)
Tuesday workouts start at 6:15 and will be 60 to 90 minutes.
And here is the Winter 2012 Schedule for the Saturday AM rides:
Saturday AM (8AM - 930AM: January 7, 14, 21 & 28 (4 sessions)
February 4, 11, 18 & 25 (4 sessions)
March 3, 10, 17, 24 & 31 (5 sessions)
Saturday workouts start at 8:15 and will be 60 to 90 minutes.
For April, we are hopeful that we can start riding outdoors but we'll make the final call on that one when the time comes.
The drop in fee is $12 per session but, if you want to sign up for a block of 4 sessions or the whole fall-winter session, please register early. Class size is limited to 12.
On a nice, sunny day in the spring or summer, a 2 hour or 3 hour ride is totally enjoyable. In the winter, riding the road to nowhere can become more of a mental challenge than a physical one. And we don't have to put in 2 or 3 hour effort every single week. Once or twice a month is enough to build a deeper aerobic base on the bike.
